Programs & Services

Offot Ukwa Association (USA), Inc. is passionate about positively impacting, changing and shaping lives. The work we do at our Non-Profit Organization is aimed at providing a holistic approach to addressing some of our society’s pressing challenges. We will partner with and ensure that our partners are empowered by creating opportunities for individuals and communities.

Our Programs

Programs that are in keeping with our mission and vision are the most important goals of our organization. We seek to support, empower, and provide high quality resources to our community in a safe and secure environment. Our success isn’t measured in terms of wealth or profit margin, but by the value we provide to those we serve.

Youth

We recognize and acknowledge that our Youth will lead us into the next generation and our sustainability depends on their engagement, wisdom, skills, participation, and more! Our association will consciously provide the platform for our Youths to bring their skills to the service of those we focus on. Offot Ukwa Association provides the safe and welcoming space for our Youths and their desired programming for our growth.

Adults

Our more seasoned community/members need skills and tools to continue growing and being of value in their works of life. Offot Ukwa Association ensures that each opportunity we have is used to provide pertinent tools for life. In the intervening months between our Convention, OUA adds presentations/seminars on health, finances and general wellbeing. We use these opportunities to share resources and discuss issues of general/mutual concerns.

We recognize that some of us are first-generation immigrants in the United States as we continue to leverage our collective resources for ways to improve our circumstances and grow. We do all these while maintaining good connection to our cultures – displaying and sharing them with appropriate richness.

Seniors

As we age, we know that our culture, some of which are orally transferred should be handed down in ways that can be done to promote accessibility and continuity. Our elders serve to continue to bridge our traditions as we work together to document and leave them for the benefit of our younger generation.

How We Help

Below are some of the charitable activities carried out by our organization

Scholarship Grants

From time to time, and now yearly, we provide scholarship grants to individuals, including high school, college and graduate school students, to enable the recipients to complete an undergraduate or graduate education in the field of their choice at the college or graduate school of their choice.

Donation of books to high schools and colleges

We donated more than 25,000 textbooks to schools in all the 22 villages that make up Offot Ukwa clan in Nigeria. This donation was made possible in partnership with Books for Africa (www.booksforafrica.org), the largest shipper of donated books to Africa.

Free medical outreach

We have a pool of talented medical professionals who go back to Nigeria to provide free medical services to people. These include minor surgeries, diagnosis, provision of medication, and awareness to prevent epidemics and outbreaks.

Improvement of Healthcare access/Rehabilitation of medical establishment.

We undertook extensive rehabilitation of the Out-Patient-Department in St. Luke's Hospital, Anua in Uyo Local Government of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. The facility was in serious disrepair  and our assistance/support helped provide a welcoming and usable facility for patients. We also donated an X-Ray equipment valued at over $150,000 to the hospital. The equipment has been fully installed, inspected and working properly.
